How to Design a Summer Court Inspired Wedding

Summer and Weddings just go together. When you read about the Inner Circles' travels to the Summer Court in A Court of Mist and Fury, you fell in love with the vibe and know that is where your soul is meant to reside. Maybe this happened while you were planning your wedding and now you want to know how to design your wedding around the Summer Court. We’ve put together a list of elements we believe encapsulate the feeling of Summer and the Summer Court as inspiration for wedding design.

As always, the attire is the first step. That’s what everyone dreams of, finding their dream wedding outfit. For the Summer Court, this will be loose, flowy fabrics gown designs, and light suit colors. Wedding party dressed in blue, crème, champaign dress will be perfect! The overall décor will include blue and white colors with gold accents. Palms and greenery are going to be a staple, but adding in Summer elements such as lemons or other citrus would elevate the design. Other florals could be olive branches or eucalyptus with blue and white flowers like hydrangeas.

The venue is always the background and setting of every wedding. This can sell the design or completely muddle it up. For a Summer Court wedding, a waterfront ceremony is ideal. A river, ocean, or lake, any type of body of water to feel like Summer. An outdoor reception in a courtyard or even a tent would give Summer vibes. Summer Court is set on the coast, so seafood is going to be a necessity in a Summer court inspired wedding. A dinner of Paella or other similar meals are a great option. (Yes, now I am looking up paella recipes to make at home).

Much like water, the photography style is going to be fluid and full of movement. Think documentary-style photography for this. Other special elements that can enhance a Summer Court inspired wedding design would be a location that is cliffside overlooking water if possible, but not required. Bohemian elements such as macrame and linen cloths can make it feel more coastal summer. Don’t go overboard with “beach” elements with shells and sand. That is Mexico Beach wedding décor, not Summer Court.

As always, these are just our ideas and ways to design a Summer Court wedding. These images are for references and inspiration ideas, and not the property of Small Grand Things. If you have other ideas or a different take, that is ok too!
